LUIGI´S JOURNEY IN A NUTSHELL

”My travel career started with Finnmatkat-Finntours (currently TUI) as a ski guide. My first season took me to Canazei-Campitello in the stunning Italian Dolomites. During that time, I became known as Luigi, a nickname that has stuck with me ever since.

Over six years abroad in various Finnmatkat destinations, I worked winters as a destination manager in the Alps and summers mainly in Riccione, Italy. This time period also includes golf guide jobs in Algarve’s Vilamoura and Tenerife’s Golf del Sur (Finnmatkat Golf was started in 1986).

Throughout the 1990s, I worked at Finnmatkat’s head office in Helsinki. My job description included the sales of group trips, managing retail sales for travel agencies across Finland, production of active holidays, and responsibility for the golf travel product. Towards the end of the 1990s, Finnmatkat Golf began collaborating with the advertising agency Resepti, led by Popo Tilander and the renowned golf writer Lassi Tilander, both well-established figures in the Finnish golf industry.

Additionally, we organized many hugely popular Classic Golf Weeks with Lassi. As our collaboration deepened, I became a partner in 2000, and we launched the golf tour operating business under the name Golfresepti Travel.

Through the years, travel and golf have become a way of living for me. They have given me a lot – most valuable are the numerous friendships I have formed throughout the years and all over the world. I have always approached my work with joy, dedication, and respect – and after over 30 years, the journey continues.”
